2007/2008 Season Review Christopher looks back on the season that was. |

April
With the nights drawing in and the sun losing its penetration, mainland or overseas fishermen do not often visit in April. This is a pity, as it also brings about very still days – perfect for lowland mayflies.
It’s been my experience that the late season mayfly fishing on these rivers is far superior than earlier in the year – simply because the fish seem to really want them. Spinners and duns were taken well by good-sized trout seemingly getting ready for the end of the season. Although the lakes also fished well in April, it is hard to go back to fishing wet flies when there is such good dry fly fishing on the rivers.
Subsequently, the last few days of the season were spent on the rivers casting to risers and placing a nymph down the occasional run that was too good to pass up. I do love the rivers!
Looking forward: the 2008/2009 season »
